Down Under Events Presents Oz Rock Busselton 2015 - Featuring ICEHOUSEDown Under Events and the City of Busselton are proud to announce, Oz Rock Busselton , Australia Day weekend Concert, Saturday January 24, 2015.

With the backdrop of the stunning pristine Geographe Bay area and the new Busselton Foreshore development, this annual event, kicked off this year with a bang and next year will be no different. This powerhouse rock event will impress with a stellar line-up of Australia’s elite bands and musicians.

To open the event with total class will be Wendy Matthews. There are very few artists in Australia who come close to Wendy Matthews and her stunning credentials: seven Arias, a massive 19 hit singles, and seven gold or multi platinum selling albums. Her career defining album ‘Lily’ sold over 500,000 albums and over 300,000 singles of her mid 90’s now signature song ‘The Day You Went Away’. Her albums can be found in over one and a half million Australian homes.

Early evening Ross Wilson will take to the stage. From Daddy Cool to Mondo Rock, as a solo artist, or as songwriter of A-grade classics such as Eagle Rock, Cool World and A Touch of Paradise, or producer of the legendary Skyhooks, Jo Jo Zep, The Johnnys, & more recently The Screaming Jets, Ross’s involvement with success has continued unabated. He fronted Daddy Cool & exploded out of the 70s playing rootsy 50s sounds. Then formed Mondo Rock who surfed the contemporary scene with chart topping singles & albums from the mid 70s to the late 80s. As a solo performer and major songwriter he continued to achieve success & make his mark during the 90s & beyond with his songs being recorded by artists as diverse as Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham.

To rev the crowd up will be supergroup, Absolutely 80’s, with Brian Mannix (Uncanny Xmen), Scott Carne (Kids In The Kitchen), David Sterry (Real Life) and the incomparable Dale Ryder (Boom Crash Opera). When the guys start pumping out hits like ‘Onion Skin’, ‘Send Me An Angel,’ ‘Change in Mood 50 Years’, ‘Great Wall’, ‘Everybody Wants to Work’, ‘Bitter Desire’, ‘Catch Me I’m Falling’, ‘Party’… you won’t be able to resist having a dance.

To continue the rockin night, singer-guitarist extraordinaire Diesel, will lift the crowd to another level. Diesel left Perth some 25 years ago, and hit the road. Within a matter of months he made his way across the Nullarbor, blitzing it live and heading for a national top 3 album chart debut. Five ARIA Awards later, with three for ‘Best Male Artist’ in 1993, 1994 and 1995 and massive hit singles, ‘Don’t Need Love’, ‘Soul Revival’, ‘Cry In Shame’, ‘Lookin For Love’ and ‘Tip Of My Tongue’ and the name ‘Diesel’ was on all the charts. These songs take you to a place and time of great memories and fun in the sun.

Iconic frontman, James Reyne will bring his songs that have provided the soundtrack to endless Australian summers. Recognised for his extensive charitable undertakings, Reyne received an Order Of Australia in January. His massive hit song ‘Reckless’ recently featured heavily in the promotion for the new series of TV show ‘Puberty Blues’, and the recent re-release of the Australian Crawl catalogue on iTunes resulted in a #4 ARIA Album Chart position for ‘The Greatest Hits’.

After the sun has set and as part of their Platinum Concert Series, ICEHOUSE, one of Australia’s most respected bands of all time, will headline Oz Rock Busselton. With an uncompromising approach to music production, ICEHOUSE frontman Iva Davies created songs that ranged from pop escapism to edgy lavish synthesised pieces. Their album, ‘Man of Colours’, was still the highest selling album by an Australian artist in Australia in 2006, almost 20 years after it was originally released. Massive hits like ‘We Can Get Together,’ ‘Great Southern Land,’ ‘Hey Little Girl’, ‘Can’t Help Myself’ and ‘Electric Blue’ are branded into our music psyche and saw the band being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006.

Oz Rock Busselton will be the premier event for the Australia Day long weekend, showcasing the very best in Australian Rock -where else would you want to be!
